PFC Wilder E. Marston was born May 4, 1899 in Hartford, Maine. At the time of his enlistment, he was a farm laborer living in Lincoln working on the Storrow property when he joined the U.S. Army.

He served in the American Expeditionary Force with Company “D” 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Yankee Division.

While engaged in the Aisne-Marne Offensive, PFC Marston was wounded. He died as a result of his wounds on August 18, 1918 at the age of 23.

The victory of that offensive in which PFC Marston fought was the turning point that ended German offensives and led to the subsequent Armistice of November 11, 1918.
