Jane Goodwin Austin - the Lincoln Years

Jane had spent her Lincoln years in the 1850’s largely consumed with the birthing and raising of children, but had managed to publish her first book Fairy Dreams or Wanderings in Elf-land (1859) while still in town.  The stories in this book are quite imaginative, and the prose is lush. Some sources say Jane had published stories previously, perhaps under a pseudonym,  before her marriage to Loring at 19 and their move to Lincoln. Unfortunately, if these exist, they have not been located.
