The collection comprises ledgers with records of the first, second, and third social libraries, and some documents relating to the social libraries (1798-1871); also included are early records of the Lincoln Public Library including catalogs and financial records, documentation relating to construction of the 1884 library building with photographs, and early accession, borrowers, and trustees records; also includes administrative and financial records, 20th century; records relating to 1958 and 1987 additions; records relating to gifts, bequests, memorials; photographs and clippings; materials relating to library anniversaries, and miscellaneous records and ephemera.
